Welcome to the Rochester Gay Men's Chorus

Rochester Gay Men's Chorus with Director Dr. Robert Strauss

For more than 30 years the RGMC has exemplified excellence in choral arts by serving the Greater Rochester Community as well as all of Western New York.

We currently perform three concerts annually and also participate in many other public appearances throughout the community. Through the passion of our music, our goal is to touch the hearts and souls of all those who listen.

500 at 35 Anniversary Campaign

This is a momentous year for the Rochester Gay Men’s Chorus as we celebrate our 35th season of excellence in the choral arts.

So that you can participate in our celebratory year, we are launching our 500 at 35 Campaign. We’ve set our goal of 500 donations at $35 each (for a total of $17,500) between January and June of 2018. Click on the "Donate Now" link below and show your support of the RGMC with your generous donation of any amount.

The 500 at 35 Campaign will help support RGMC’s artistic endeavors, including costs of music and performance rights, performance space rentals, and the overall quality of our musical presentation and performance aspects. Your support also helps the RGMC continue to expand its community outreach, performing at PRIDE, Puerto Rican Festival, SUNY’s Brockport and Geneseo, Asbury First United Methodist Tent Week, World AIDS Day remembrances, and countless other functions. It also keeps the RGMC collaborating with great artists and groups like the Rochester Women’s Community Chorus, Liz Callaway, Lea DeLaria, WXXI, the Chorus of the Genesee, and the bi-annual PRISM concert at Eastman Theatre.

Please consider making a donation of $35 or a multiple of $35 ($70, $140, $270, $350, or more) in support of the Rochester Gay Men’s Chorus as we set the stage for another 35 years of continued excellence in the choral arts. All donations to the 500 at 35 Campaign will be recognized throughout our six‐month campaign as well as at our concerts, special events, and June Annual Meeting.

Two Boys KissingTwo Boys Kissing

Saturday, March 24, at 7:30 pm

Based on David Leviathan’s Lambda Literary Award winning book, Joshua Shank’s Two Boys Kissing tells the stories of two gay teenagers who attempt to break the world record for the longest kiss, another couple falling in love, and a teen whose sexual orientation is discovered by his conservative parents.

Called an “engaging piece of choral theatre,” Two Boys Kissing will feature actors in collaboration with Blackfriars Theatre as the characters and narrators. The work “is for anyone who's fallen in love, for anyone who's been hurt by love, for anyone who has lost a loved one, and for anyone who still believes in love and still believes in hope.”

Support the RGMC Through New Endowment Fund

The Community FoundationThanks to the generosity of longtime RGMC patron and LGBTQ advocate James Moran, the chorus now has a $25,000 endowment fund through the Rochester Area Community Foundation.

The structure of an endowment fund allows this gift to have a long-term impact, as the principal amount will be held intact while the income from its investments is utilized.

We can make use of the funds once the account grows to $100,000.

This exciting development will help to support the mission of the chorus for many years to come. In your own giving plans, please consider donating to the endowment online.

We also can gratefully accept cash donations, appreciated assets (such as stocks and bonds), and bequests. Donations by check may be mailed to the chorus office (121 N. Fitzhugh St., Suite #315, Rochester, NY 14614-1214), with specification that the donation is for the endowment fund.
