Rochester Gay Men's Chorus 2015 - 2016 Season

Underneath the Tree presented by the Rochester Gay Men's Chorus in December 2015 Underneath the Tree
December 11 and 12, 2015 at 8:00 PM

Childhood: a time of innocence and freedom, before we realize life’s prejudices and responsibilities. For many of us, the exuberance and joy of childhood is best typified during the holiday season. This concert celebrates childhood, and includes “Suzy Snowflake,” “Ding Dong, Merrily on High,” “Little Saint Nick,” and “Christmas, Don’t Be Late.” We’ll also be joined by the Genesee Valley Children’s Choir. Join us and reclaim the wonder of childhood.

I'm the Greatest Star - March 19, 2016 Concert presented by the Rochester Gay Men's ChorusI'm the Greatest Star:
The Fabulous Female Singers
March 19, 2016 at 8:00 PM

In the last century, there were female singers who had the drive to break free and succeed in a society which discriminated against them. The LGBTQ community connected with these women: we longed for the same things that they longed for, and they continue to be a fascination. With narration by WXXI’s Michael Lasser, we’ll sing songs by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Barbra Streisand, and Judy Garland, plus many more.

Premiere! - June 18, 2016 Concert presented by the Rochester Gay Men's ChorusPremiere!
June 18, 2016 at 8:00 PM

The Rochester Gay Men’s Chorus has a rich history of premiering new works, with a special fondness for Rochester-area composers and arrangers.

For the final concert of our 2015–16 season, we are thrilled to present a concert honoring this tradition, which includes the wide variety of styles our audiences have come to expect — from pop to gospel to musical theatre to avant garde, as well as a musical setting of Maya Angelou's poem "Still I Rise," in tribute to Matthew Shepard and the great work of his mother, Judy, since his death.
